Thermogenesis
Thermogenesis is the production of heat in an organism, it
is a production, produced in the endothermic organisms. Thermogenesis has to do
with energy, and it known that energy is neither created ort destroyed, it is
transformed, converted, transported and stored, energy comes from the food the
organism eats.
Energy is measured in calories one calorie is amount of heat needed to heat one gram of or water 10C calories are the energy stored in food. (Dr. Fred Spencer, 2012) Thermogenesis is stimulated by the sympathetic nervous system, under cold conditions, this is registered via the hypothalamus glad it then triggers the autonomic nervous system thus turning up the thermogenesis and other responses by the nervous system (Dr. Fred Spencer, 2012)
The behaviours, and physiological responses used to produce this are

- Shivering- shivering produces heat because the

- Non-shivering thermogenesis – the thyroid hormone
